The Story Behind The Sprouting Kitchen

In a world where food is often rushed, processed, and disconnected from its origins, The Sprouting Kitchen is creating something different. Something intentional, nourishing, and rooted in community.

The Sprouting Kitchen was founded in 2019 and was built on a simple but powerful idea: food has the ability to connect us. To our health, to our environment, and to each other.

Where It All Began

The inspiration for The Sprouting Kitchen didn’t happen overnight. It started with a question: Where does our food really come from?

That curiosity led Fallon to spend two years with FoodCorps, working in schools to integrate gardening and cooking into education. During that time, she saw firsthand how transformative it can be when people engage directly with their food.

A turning point came when a local farmer, Lorenzo Candelaria of Cornelio Candelaria Organics, encouraged her to host cooking classes on his farm. What began as a small idea quickly grew into something much bigger. The response was immediate: people were craving connection, not just to food, but to the experience of preparing and sharing it.

Growing a Community Through Food

Since launching, The Sprouting Kitchen has expanded far beyond those early farm-based classes. Today, it offers hands-on cooking experiences for people of all ages across a variety of settings – from local farms to health clinics to virtual classes.

But the mission has remained the same: to make cooking approachable, enjoyable, and accessible.

More Than Just Cooking Classes

At its core, The Sprouting Kitchen is about building lifelong habits and meaningful connections. After attending a class, participants don’t just leave with a new recipe, they leave with:

  • A deeper connection to their food and where it comes from
  • Practical cooking skills that make healthy eating easier and more enjoyable
  • A sense of community, rooted in shared experiences and local support

These experiences help shift the way people think about food, from something routine to something intentional and empowering.

Rooted in Education and Passion

Fallon brings both professional expertise and personal passion to her work. She holds a degree in nutrition from Penn State University, completed her dietetic internship at Cornell University, and earned a Master’s in Health Education from the University of New Mexico.

Her background, combined with her hands-on experience in schools and communities, shapes every class The Sprouting Kitchen offers.

Why It Matters

In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to lose touch with what we eat and how it impacts our lives. The Sprouting Kitchen is helping people slow down, reconnect, and rediscover the value of real, nourishing food.

Because when we take the time to grow, cook, and share meals together, something powerful happens. We build healthier habits, stronger communities, and a deeper appreciation for the food on our plates.
