What Makes Your Cooking Experience Unique:
Learn Why Chickpeas Are Good For Us & The Soil: Did you know chickpeas add nutrients TO the soil, whereas most plants take AWAY nutrients from the soil? Swapping plant-based proteins in place of animal proteins helps reduce green house gas emissions and spare seafood populations. You don’t have to be vegan or vegetarian to eat more plant-based proteins! Chickpeas are also packed with fiber, which is good for our gut health (aka microbiome)!
Cook a Delicious & Accessible Recipe: You’ll learn how to cook chickpeas in olive oil and spices on the stove until they get crispy on the outside, yet still creamy on the inside. We’ll then add in some greens for a quick steam and saute. This is great nutritious and quick meal to have in your back pocket!
Know Your Farmer: You’ll hear from a farmer who has grown chickpeas. They will tell us why beans are a great food to grow for the environment and how they add nitrogen back into the soil!
How it Works:
We offer this also as an in-person cooking class experience in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. If interested in more info, please email us at Fallon@thesproutingkitchen.org
