SHARE: Celebrate Chanukah, the festival of lights, by making delicious food and sharing stories. Fallon, your cooking instructor, will share about Chanukah traditions and background around the Jewish holiday. We will also weave in time for other to share about what holiday traditions they celebrate!
THE RECIPE: We’ll be grating russet potatoes to make pan fried crispy latkes! Then we’ll cook down tart apples to make a sweet, creamy applesauce. You’ll be amazed by how easy and delicious both recipes will be!
MEET THE MAKERS:
Say goodbye to the cheap, waxy chocolate gelt (coins) that often is gifted during Chanukah, and hello to rich, creamy, craft chocolate gelt made by Belen from Bate Bate Chocolate. Belen sources cacao beans from single orgin farms and makes her chocolate homemade in microbatches. You can truly taste the love and dedication in every bite.
To bind our latkes, we’ll be using local Sonoran white whole wheat flour stone milled by local baker, Jacob from The Ferm Brinery and Bakehouse. This wheat is a heirloom variety from Sonora Mexico traditionally used to make flour tortillas.
Participants will receive & use a beautiful Kei & Molly tea towel, which will be used to wring out water from the potatoes (the key to crispy latkes!!). The company’s mission is to create jobs for the immigrant and refugee communities in Albuquerque.
