What the experience includes:

Our cooking classes are a one-of-a-kind experience. For this special class, we’ll start with (an optional) all levels yoga flow from 9-10am. Then we’ll go on a farm tour to learn about and see all the beautiful produce growing! After we’ll lead you through a cooking demo and go over the recipes you’ll be preparing. Then we’ll break into groups to cook the recipes and finally sit down to enjoy the meal we created together!

What we’ll be cookin, a savory pancake trio:

  • Blue Corn Pancakes w/ Salsa Verde – we’ll use local blue corn flour to make truly delicious roasty and nutty pancake. We’ll pair these with a flavorful spring onion, garlic, and herb salsa verde.
  • Hakurei Turnip & Local Bacon Fritters — grated sweet & juicy turnips get mixed with salty bacon to make irresistibly good crispy fritters. We’ll pair these with a smoky cashew lime crema.
  • Root Veggie Fritter w/ Yogurt Sauce — a mix of colorful late spring root veggies (carrots, beets, etc) served with a herbed yogurt sauce.
    • All pancakes can be made vegan (besides the bacon fritter) and/or gluten free!
  • Local Kombucha will be available when you arrive at the farm

More about Chispas Farm:

Chispas farms is a beautiful 4-acre farm located in Albuquerque’s South Valley on occupied Tiwa land. They grow over 120 varieties of heirloom vegetables and fruits, have 100 laying hens for eggs, and also keep sheep, goats, ducks, geese, and rabbits. They save a variety of seeds, have perennial pasture for our livestock to graze and be happy, our primary method of pest management is adequate crop rotation and planting lots of flowers for beneficial insects, and soil health is our number one priority.
