Get to know beets!

When is they seasonal? Cooler seasons (spring, fall) but can be available year round!

Varieties: 

  • The most common beets are the purple variety, but you’ll see beets that are yellow (aka golden) and even striped  (aka “chioggia”)

Nutrition: Beets are a good source of folate, manganese, potassium, iron and vitamin C. They also can increase blood flow and can be helpful to boost exercise performance! 

Culinary Basics: Raw beets can be grated for a slaw. To get easy, tender roasted beets: wrap beets in tin foil or a in pan with a lid, and then roast at 425 for 30-60 minutes, until beets are fork-tender.
